Dog Charities

Hearing Dogs for Deaf People is a registered charity that trains dogs to alert deaf people to everyday household sounds.

Whenever possible, the dogs are selected from rescue centres, but they are also donated by breeders and members of the public, with the remainder coming from the Charity’s own breeding scheme.

The Charity celebrated its 25th Anniversary in 2007 and has placed nearly 1500 hearing dogs since its inception in 1982.

Please see additional page on the Hearing Dogs and please consider offering your help or support to this worthwhile UK Assistance Dog Charity.

Guide Dogs wants a world in which blind and partially-sighted people have the same rights, responsibilities and opportunities as everyone else.

Guide Dogs provides mobility and freedom to blind and partially-sighted people. They also campaign for the rights of those with visual impairments, educate the public about eye care and invest millions of pounds in eye disease research.

Dogs for Good

Dogs for Good is an innovative charity, exploring ways dogs

can help people overcome specific challenges and enrich and

improve lives and communities. Our assistance dogs support

adults and children with a range of disabilities and also

children with autism. We train activity and therapy dogs to

work with specialist handlers in communities and schools.

Our Family Dog team also gives specialist advice and support

to help people get the most out of their relationship with their

pet dog. We believe dogs are good for us and we continue to

explore new ways dogs can help people in the future.

Please see additional page on the Dogs for Good and please consider offering your help or support to this worthwhile UK Assistance Dog Charity.

Lake District Mountain Rescue Search Dogs

We are a voluntary organisation dedicated to the training and use of mountain rescue search dogs to assist in the search for and rescue of missing persons, predominantly in a mountainous environment, but also in other areas where our skills may be of benefit. All Lake District mountain rescue search dog handlers are also members of a mountain rescue team affiliated to the Lake District Search and Mountain Rescue Association (LDSMRA) and therefore must already be competent in first aid and survival in a mountainous environment. The Association is a registered charity which continues to exist only because of public donations.

Rescue Centres

Border Collie Trust can trace its history back to the 1970’s and became a registered charity in 1996. The following year it opened a rescue centre at Colton in Staffordshire from where 400 to 500 collies and collie crosses are rehomed each year.In addition to rescuing collies the Trust also provides a lot of information and advice to owners of collies. The dogs we rescue come from other rescues, stray pounds and of course individual owners who for one reason or another fund themselves unable to care for their dog.Like all animal charities, fundraising and donations are our only source of income so the support of the public is vital to our work. There are many different ways you can help the Trust continue its work a and details can be found on our website www.bordercollietrustgb.org.uk or by contacting the centre on 01889 577058.

Please see additional page on the Border Collie Trust and please consider offering your help or support to this worthwhile UK Charity.

Rescuedb is a national database of animals and rescues. Rescuedb has pictures of Dogs, Cats and other animals looking for loving homes. Please support rescuedb and tell your friends about the site and give a rescue a home.

Rescue-Dogs:mDog rescue, rehoming and adoption in the UK. Overlooked rescue dogs seeking forever homes. Please consider helping this great cause.

The aim of The Labrador Lifeline Trust is to help Labradors in need.
